    Baked Apples

  With fresh apples in season, make this easy delicious dessert recipe for you, your family or dinner guests to enjoy.
         

6 to 8 medium apples
1/2 cup raisins
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/3 cup of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
3 tablespoons of butter
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of orange juice

 

    Wash apples; core then peel one narrow strip from around the top edge.  Place apples in a deep baking dish.  Fill centers
     with raisins.  In a bowl combine flour, sugar and cinnamon.  Cut in butter with a pastry blender or fork.  Sprinkly this
    crumbly mixture over the apples.  Pour water and orange juice over apples.  Bake uncovered at 350 for 1 hour, basting
    occasionally.   Serve with cream or ice-cream and forget about the calories!

   Easy Appetizer  

     Brushetta is an easy appetizer to make and serve and is sure to please any palate.  This is the way Susan likes to make it. 

1 loaf of fresh baguette or French style bread
2 cloves of fresh garlic crushed
1 cup of deli shredded parmesan cheese
4 ripe tomatoes thinly sliced
3/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Fresh ground pepper and salt

Heat oven broiler.  Slice the baguette loaf into 1/2 inch portions.
Mix crushed garlic with Olive oil and brush lightly over the top of
the bread.  Place a slice of tomato on each bread portion and top
with 1 TBSP of cheese.  Place under broiler and remove just when the cheese melts.  Remove from oven and drizzle remaining olive oil
                                                                                     on top of each portion topping with remaining cheese.  Add fresh
                                                                                     ground pepper and a bit of salt.. 

And Voila, quick and easy brushetta.
